Internship Project: Gamified Learning Module Development
Force for Health Network Internship Opportunity Be a Force for Health: Learn it • Live it • Share it Internship Project: Gamified Learning Module Development Project Overview This internship focuses on the design and development of a single gamified online learning module for the Force for Health Network. The goal is to create an engaging, self-guided activity that helps high school students learn about a key health literacy concept (e.g., stress management, hydration, or teamwork). Interns will apply classroom knowledge in [insert discipline, e.g., instructional design, health education, multimedia design, or computer science depending on the student program] to produce a clear, structured deliverable that is ready for testing with real users. Objectives Apply classroom knowledge of digital learning and/or instructional design to create one focused health education module. Develop interactive, gamified elements that make learning engaging for students. Ensure the module follows the “Learn it, Live it, Share it” framework used across the Force for Health Network. Deliver a professional-grade product that can be tested and published on our learning management system. Deliverables Storyboard & Outline – A structured plan that includes the learning objectives, lesson flow, and gamified elements. Prototype Module – A functioning draft version of the interactive learning activity (built in Canva, Articulate, H5P, or another agreed-upon tool). Final Module – A polished version of the gamified lesson, with feedback incorporated. Reflection Video (2–3 minutes) – A professional short video summarizing the project process and what was learned. Scope & Focus This project involves one main task : developing a single gamified lesson module. The work is discipline-specific and can be completed by a small team from the same academic program (e.g., instructional design, health promotion, multimedia design, or computer science). The skills learned will apply to any discipline, and the game topic can be within the realms of health education, Health literacy, education, social work, premed or other disciplines, as the intern will work with mentors that will help fill any gaps. We believe many different approaches to improving health are needed. Interns will not be expected to complete unrelated tasks across multiple disciplines. Learning Outcomes Gain real-world experience in developing a professional-grade digital learning product. Strengthen skills in instructional design, gamification, and project-based learning. Learn how to communicate health topics clearly to peers through interactive media. Build a portfolio piece that demonstrates applied classroom knowledge in a practical setting.
Data Analytics and Display in Health Game Platform
Key Tasks: Analyze public health data from various sources, including diabetes management, fitness programs, and nutrition education. Create detailed reports, visualizations, and dashboards to present key insights and health outcomes. Assist in developing leaderboards and graphics to gamify public health data and enhance community engagement. Collaborate with the team to evaluate the effectiveness of The Force for Health Network’s public health initiatives. Help integrate and display leaderboards for the person, organization and the community in this health gamification platform and implementation. Consulting students will be initial testers, users, and evaluators of the platform, games, points, reports, and incentives. They will help find glitches, user interface issues, and suggest or provide user experience advice for users, or customers seeking reports. They will spend time reviewing our site, suggesting potential data visualization solutions, and also creating and testing simple games, analyzing results, and creating visualization dashboards. This is NOT a project for learning how to manipulate or integrate large data sets.
